After age 30, I have naturally dedicated more time analyzing my own gestures, reactions and way of thinking. I discovered some dominant features which I couldn’t necessarily explain in a logical manner. I am fascinated by the way I relate to those around me and I enjoy observing human interaction in general. Even more, I have a fantastic intuition concerning the end of events.
I consider introspection to be essential in the inter-human relationships. The better we know ourselves the less we’ll judge others and become more open in understanding and accepting those around us. In the end we are social beings.
I have good news for you! If you don’t know where to start, I strongly recommend the Myers-Briggs personality test. According to Wikipedia, the Myers-Briggs test is an introspective self-report questionnaire with the purpose of indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world around them and make decisions.
A great online platform where you can test yourself for free is 16Personalities. The testing takes maximum 10 minutes. The result accuracy is directly linked to the honesty of your answers. I promise it will be worth the effort.
The coolest thing from my perspective is comparing results with the close ones. I was surprised to discover that me and my husband share our personality types with only 2% of the world’s population. He is an architect (together with Michelle Obama, Elon Musk or Vladimir Putin) while I am a protagonist (same as Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey or Malala Yousafzai). Imagine how much fun we had when we realized how close we are, personality wise speaking, to the Obama couple. Hence, me as Barack and my husband as Michelle.
May it be that you want to find out more about yourself or that you are aiming at better understanding your friends, the 16 personalities test it’s a tool you can always rely on.
